On this unique trip you will immerse yourself in the authentic culture of the locals, explore colorful local markets and enjoy the impressive Andean landscapes in southern Peru. The adventure begins in Lima, the capital, and takes you further south to Paracas, where we will visit the Islas Ballestas. Here you can observe various migratory birds such as the scarlet bird and cormorants, as well as marine mammals and the magical rock formations of the Portal. You will then climb into a 4x4 sand buggy for an exciting ride through the dunes. From above you can view the enigmatic Nazca Lines, where your imagination will be enchanted by their mysterious lines. Arequipa, with its colonial architecture, will fascinate you before you head to the majestic Colca Canyon, where you will experience the majestic flight of the Andean condor, the king of the skies. In Cusco, the imperial city, you will stroll through streets steeped in history and visit the mystical sanctuary of Machu Picchu, a place that will invigorate your senses and renew your energy. Finally, we will arrive in Puno, home of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, where you will explore the impressive floating islands of the Uros and learn about their rich, ancient culture and experience ancient traditions.

TRAVEL INFORMATION:

1. NEW MACHU PICCHU REGULATIONS
Please note that new regulations apply to all visitors to Machu Picchu, requiring them to complete different circuits within the site to reduce overcrowding. The new tickets for the circuits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

2. COMBO TRIP
Please note that this tour combines with other travelers in some activities. Therefore, it may happen that the staff and some fellow travelers join your tour.

4. YELLOW FEVER
A yellow fever certificate may be required upon entry into the country being visited. Please check with your local health professional about yellow fever and other vaccinations required for this area.

5. WET SEASON
Please note that during the rainy season (January - April) the railway line may be partially closed in case of heavy rainfall.

6. Please note that protocols in Peru may require proof of double vaccination against COVID-19 to be presented along with the passport to board domestic flights and trains and also to access restaurants, museums and tourist attractions. We recommend having this information on hand as these requirements may change without notice.

7. NOTE ON ACCOMMODATION:
Please note that the two-story accommodations we stay in may not have elevators and you will have to climb the stairs with your luggage. 8. Wifi Please note that there will be no wifi and limited cell service for most of the hike.

Included in the price:

All domestic flights: Cusco - Puerto Maldonado / Puerto Maldonado - Lima.
All domestic transport and transfers mostly by private minibus; Juliaca to Cusco by bus and Machu Picchu to Cusco by train.
Overnight stays in double rooms (with shower/WC) in a balanced mix of mid-range hotels, very cosy and local hostals and simple accommodation. In Luquina, overnight stay in very simple and rustic accommodation without running water. During the Inca Trail overnight stay in tents. (Note: single tent only possible on request - surcharge 80,- EUR).
Meals on your trip: 20 breakfasts, 6 lunches and 6 dinners (varies depending on the trail; see tour programme)

Daily itinerary

Day 1 Lima

Arrival and welcome meeting

Arrival and welcome meeting Today the adventure begins. You have time to explore on your own, but
please don't forget to arrive on time with your group. After the welcome, your
German-speaking tour guide will discuss all the details of your trip. The
normal check-in times apply in our starting hotels. However, there is luggage storage in the hotel if you arrive earlier.
In the evening we visit El Parke de las Aguas (water park)

Day 2 Lima - Paracas

In the morning you have free time to explore the picturesque streets of Barranco on your own. Stroll along the city's seafront and try some Peruvian food such as "Lomo Saltado" or "Ceviche" in a cafe, among a variety of exquisite dishes. Board a local bus to travel down the coast to Paracas. The bus to the bus station leaves around noon. Enjoy the sunset on the beach in Paracas on the sea coast. Accommodation: Hotel Paracas Sunset (or similar) Meal included: Breakfast Transportation: Local bus: get on, sit down and enjoy the ride. The bus has 160° reclining seats and we reserve the comfort class for the trip. Lima - Paracas: approx. 4 hours afternoon 250 km Accommodation: approx. 4:50 p.m. Optional activity: Sunset viewpoint.

Day 3 Paracas - Huacachina Oasis & Nasca

Today begins a fantastic day of adventure. Nature lovers can explore the impressive Ballestas Islands in the Paracas National Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to see majestic pelicans, red-footed boobies, flamingos, sea lions, Humboldt penguins and the mysterious El Candelabro geoglyph - all on an exciting two-hour boat tour. Then you will board our comfortable transport that will take you to Ica, where you will enjoy a fascinating guided tour along the famous Pisco Route. Here you will taste different liquors made from grape distillates and learn about their fascinating production process. We will then reach the Huacachina Oasis, a true paradise in the desert. You will have the opportunity to challenge the dunes in a dune buggy, doing exciting pirouettes over the whimsical shapes of médanos and dunes. You can also experience the adrenaline rush of sandboarding. In the afternoon we continue our journey to our last destination of the day: Nazca, the city of eternal summer, where every corner is a new adventure. Day 4 Nasca - Arequipa

Today's adventure begins with an optional flight over the Nazca Lines. Our guide will take us to Maria Reiche Airport where you will board a Cessna plane with experienced pilots to view the enigmatic Nazca Lines and geoglyphs from the clear blue sky. During the 30-minute flight, one of the officers will guide you through each figure in the sky. In the afternoon we will visit the Pyramids of Cahuachi, one of the most important adobe pilgrimage centers in the south with an extension of 24 km, followed by a visit to the Calle family's ceramic workshop. Here you will learn about the production of the different types of ceramics and their uses, all of which are handmade, before returning to the hotel. In the evening we will board our comfortable bus and travel to Arequipa the White City. Accommodation: Hotel Alegria (or similar)

Day 5 Arequipa - Free day

You arrive in Arequipa in the morning, check into your hotel and after breakfast set off to explore this beautiful colonial city at the foot of the imposing El Misti volcano. Its buildings made of volcanic stone shimmer in the sun and have earned it the nickname “The White City”. Start your day in the Plaza de Armas, surrounded by cafes with the majestic cathedral in the background. Visit the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries, which houses the famous Inca mummy “Juanita”, or explore the Santa Catalina Convent, a former convent full of stories and secrets, known for the luxurious lifestyle of its nuns in the past. An ideal day for acclimatization. Accommodation: Arequipa Inn Meal included: none

Day 6 Arequipa - Chivay

Today you will travel for about 5 hours by private transport to the town of Chivay at 3,635 m. On the way you will see llamas, alpacas and vicuñas - how can you tell these adorable animals apart? Your guide will explain the differences between these animals. We will also stop to take breaks, take photos and try the local coca tea, which helps to cope with the altitude. The third stop will take you to the highest point of the tour in Patapampa (4,800 m above sea level) before you descend to your destination Chivay. Enjoy your lunch break in the town and then visit the hot water spring. From here you can either spend the evening bathing in the hot springs, eating a llama steak in a nearby restaurant or enjoying live Andean music and dance show in a peña (bar). Day 7 Chivay - Arequipa - Puno

The Colca Canyon, which is more than twice as deep as the famous Grand Canyon, offers you spectacular panoramic views. From the viewpoint "Mirador de la Cruz del Condor", where we can see the king of birds soaring in the morning thermals. At the same time, our eyes delight in the breathtaking scenery of picturesque villages, Andean landscapes and the majestic mountains of Chivay. The Colca Canyon is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and offers spectacular views. Here you can marvel at terraced fields that have been cultivated by the locals since pre-Inca times. This is also the home of the Andean condor. From a privileged viewpoint above the canyon, you have the opportunity to observe one of the largest and most powerful flying birds in the world, gliding with grace and elegance. After this fascinating experience in the majestic canyon, you return to the charming Arequipa. As night falls, we head to Puno and settle into
a comfortable bus, ready for the next adventure that awaits us.

Day 9 Lake Titicaca - Uros & Taquile Island

After breakfast we head to Titicaca port and take an interesting boat trip on the floating reed islands of Uro Island. From the yacht we will enjoy unique, unforgettable scenery and learn about the culture. Our first destination will be the Uros Islands, which are 7 km by boat from Puno. We will visit 02 of more than 90 islands, where we will learn about their way of life, history, customs and main activities such as handicrafts, tourism and artisanal fishing and get to know the customs of the local people. Finally, we will descend with a walk to the main port of Taquile, where our boat will be waiting for us for the return trip to Puno. Day 10 Puno - Cusco

Today a pleasant bus ride awaits us. We will be taken to the bus station to board our bus to "Cusco", the Inca capital. The bus ride takes about 7 hours. Welcome to Cusco! (3,399 m). Free day to explore the city with its traditional markets, squares, cathedrals and archaeological sites. Accommodation: Estancia San Pedro Hotel (or similar) Meal included: Breakfast Bus ride: about 7 hours

Day 11 Cusco - Free day

Today is free for you to enjoy the colonial atmosphere, the heart and soul of Peru. You can visit the many museums and archaeological sites. These include the Contemporary Art Museum, the Regional History Museum, the Qosqo Native Art Museum and the Inca ruins of Saqsaywaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pukara, Pisac and Ollantaytambo. The most easily accessible site is Coricancha. This was once the richest temple of the Inca Empire until Spanish conquerors destroyed the temple and built a Dominican church on it. Day 12 Valle Sagrado - Aguas Calientes

Our guide will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco at 7:30 am and then the tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas begins. Our first stop is the textile center of Awana Kancha. Here you will learn more about the textile art of our ancestors and the techniques used to make them. We will then drive to Pisac, an Inca citadel with the Intiwatana stone and a lively market. After exploring Pisac, we will have lunch at a typical Andean restaurant before continuing to the ruins of Ollantaytambo. After a private tour of the ruins, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Day 13 Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early morning is the right time to admire the majestic Machu Picchu and take a short walk to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate). Walking these ancient paths will take us back to the Inca times. Here we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Sundial, the Temple of the Condor and others. We will also visit the Inti Watana Altar, a magnificent site in the heart of Machu Picchu. Take a guided tour of the ruins of temples, palaces and residential quarters and then enjoy free time to hike on your own before the group returns to Cusco. After the Machu Picchu visit we will meet at Aguas Calientes Pueblo. Optional Rumba Night Included Meal: Breakfast - At 5am Accommodation: Estancia San Pedro Hotel (or similar)
