You'll start in Lima, where you can explore the bohemian Barranco district, known for its vibrant art, or enjoy the magical spectacle at the Parque de las Aguas. You'll then travel to Arequipa, known as the "White City," with its impressive colonial architecture, before immersing yourself in the majesty of the Colca Canyon, home of the majestic condors. Your journey continues to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital, where the cobbled streets tell stories of a glorious past. From here, you'll visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the fortress of Ollantaytambo stands as a testament to the Inca's architectural ingenuity. The highlight of your adventure will be visiting Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, where you will be blown away by the impressive scenery and rich history. Finally, you will head to Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. There you will explore the floating Uros Islands, built entirely of reeds, and Isla Taquile, where ancient traditions remain alive. NEW MACHU PICCHU REGULATIONS
Please be advised that new regulations are in place for all visitors to Machu Picchu, requiring that various tours be completed within the site to reduce overcrowding.
Tickets for these tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Peak season: The peak tourist season (April to October) is the time of year when most tourists visit Machu Picchu. Therefore, it is necessary to book the Inca Trail at least 4 months in advance and subject to availability.
MIX TRIP Please be advised that this tour involves combining activities with other travellers. Therefore, you may share the tour with staff and other travellers.All travellers are required to pay a tax on domestic flights in Peru, while foreign travellers are exempt from this requirement.
YELLOW FEBER
Upon entering the country you are visiting, you may be required to present a yellow fever certificate. We advise you to consult your local health professional about yellow fever and other vaccinations required for this area.
WET SEASON
Please be advised that the railway line may be partially closed during heavy rainfall (January - April) due to the rainy season.
Peru's protocols may require proof of dual vaccination against COVD-19 to board domestic flights and trains, as well as to access restaurants, museums and attractions.

Please note that there may be no lifts in the accommodation where we are staying and you may have to climb the stairs with your luggage.
Regarding WiFi, please note that for most of the trek there will be no WiFi and only limited mobile phone service available.
Please note that it is possible to take out travel health insurance, e.g. via credit card (Visa), often already available, or via ÖAMTC in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, or other providers.Germans, Austrians and Swiss require a passport that must be valid for six months upon entry, as well as other nationalities.Travellers of other nationalities may require a visa.Please note the respective visa requirements and enquire about a visa application in good time.

Daily itinerary

Day 1 Lima:

Today the adventure begins.

You have time to explore the city on your own, but
please don't forget to arrive on time for the Servus welcome meeting, where you will meet your
tour guide and your travel companions. After the welcome meeting,
your tour guide will explain all the details of your trip. However, if you arrive earlier,
luggage storage is usually available. At our starting hotel, the hotel's check-in time applies.

Day 2: Arequipa

You will arrive in Arequipa in the morning, check into your hotel and after breakfast, set off to explore this beautiful colonial city at the foot of the imposing El Misti volcano. Its buildings made of volcanic stone, shimmering in the sun, have earned it the nickname “The White City”.

Start your day in the Plaza de Armas, surrounded by cafes with the majestic Cathedral in the background. Visit the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries, which houses the famous Inca mummy “Juanita”, or explore the Santa Catalina Convent, a former convent full of stories and secrets, known for the luxurious lifestyle of its nuns in the past.

Day 3: Chivay Village -Salinas Aguada Blanca National Reserve

Today you will travel for about 5 hours by private transport to the town of Chivay at 3,635 m.
On the way you will see llamas, alpacas and vicuñas - how can you tell these adorable animals apart? Your guide will explain the differences between these animals. We will also stop to take breaks, take photos and try the local coca tea, which helps to cope with the altitude. The third stop will take you to the highest point of the tour in Patapampa (4,800 m above sea level), take a break in the town and then visit the hot water spring.
From here you can either spend the evening with a bath in the hot springs, a llama steak in a nearby restaurant before driving down to your destination Chivay.
Enjoy your lunch or end the day with live Andean music and dance show in a peña (bar).

Day 4: Colca Canyon / Arequipa

After a hearty breakfast, we set off for the famous “Mirador de la Cruz del Condor”, where
you can marvel at the majestic Andean condor, the king of the skies, in its impressive flight over the
morning updrafts. A breathtaking scenery unfolds before you:
picturesque villages, ancient terraced fields and the majestic peaks of the Chivay mountains. The
Colca Canyon, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, not only offers spectacular views, but
also tells stories of millennia-old cultivation by the locals.
This place is home to the mighty Andean condor, one of the largest flying birds in the world.
Enjoy an unforgettable sight from one of the best viewpoints in the canyon as the
condor circles over the deep gorges.
After this unforgettable experience in the Colca Canyon, we make our way back to
Arequipa. In the evening we will travel comfortably by bus to Puno.

Day 6: Lake Titicaca - Uros & Taquile Island

After breakfast we head to Titicaca port and take an interesting boat trip on the floating reed islands of Uro Island. From the yacht we will enjoy unique, unforgettable scenery and learn about the culture. Our first destination will be the Uros Islands, which are 7 km by boat from Puno. We will visit 2 of more than 90 islands, where we will learn about their way of life, history, customs and main activities such as handicrafts, tourism and fishing and get to know the customs of the locals. Stop for lunch in a typical restaurant to enjoy a delicious homemade lunch with a view of the majestic Andes. After a leisurely walk around Taquile Island, we head to the island's main port. There our boat will be waiting to take us back to Puno. Accommodation: Hotel Sol Plaza Meal included: Breakfast & Lunch.

Day 7: On the way to Cusco

Today we have a pleasant bus ride. We will be taken to the bus station to board our bus to "Cusco", the Inca capital. The bus ride takes about 7 hours. Welcome to Cusco! (3,399 m). Day 8: Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at 7:30 am and then start the trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first stop is the Awana Kancha Textile Center. Here you will learn more about the textile art of our ancestors and the techniques used to make them. We will then drive to Pisac, an Inca citadel, where we will visit the lively and colorful market. After exploring Pisac, we will eat in a typical restaurant. Afterwards we will explore the Ollantaytambo fortress. In the evening we will board the train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy the scenic views. Accommodation: Vilas Insight Hotel Machu Picchu (or similar) Included: Breakfast & Lunch Full day activities

Day 9: Machu Picchu Citadel – Cusco

Early morning is the right time to admire the majestic Machu Picchu and take a short walk to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate). A walk along these ancient paths takes us back to the time of the Incas. Here we will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Sundial, the Temple of the Condor and others. We will also visit the Inti Watana Altar, a magnificent site in the heart of Machu Picchu. Take a guided tour of the ruins of temples, palaces and residential quarters and then enjoy free time to hike on your own before the group returns to Cusco. After the Machu Picchu tour we will meet in Aguas Calientes Pueblo. Breakfast time: At 5am Bus departure: At 5:30am Train departure: At 2pm Accommodation: Hotel Estancia San Pedro (or similar)

Day 10: Free day

This day offers you the perfect opportunity to either relax and recharge after your hike or to continue exploring the fascinating city of Cusco. If you decide to relax, you can relax in one of the cozy cafes. However, if you still feel energetic and adventurous, you could go on an exciting hike or a city tour through the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes around Cusco. The city not only offers impressive views of the impressive nature, but also the opportunity to discover hidden corners and charming villages that are often off the beaten track. Whichever option you choose, your last day in Cusco will surely be unforgettable. Meal included: Breakfast
